NewerTech Battery Recycling Program ensures 'Green', environmentally safe disposal |
| WOODSTOCK, IL (Aug. 3, 2006) Newer Technology Inc. (NewerTech) today announces the launch of a new recycling program providing a no-cost means for customers to ensure their old PowerBook and iBook batteries are properly disposed of and that associated recoverable materials are responsibly recycled.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), nearly 3 billion cell-based batteries are purchased each year in the United States. Improper disposal of batteries creates environmental risks to groundwater supply and air quality, in addition to the non-recovery of recyclable materials. Now included with all NewerTech NuPower laptop batteries is a free return shipping label. Batteries returned using this label are directed to the appropriate recycling/disposal center ensuring properly handling. Information on this recycling program as well as local disposal options can be found at http://www.newertech.com/recycle "NewerTech has long led the way with the highest capacity and longest lasting Powerbook and iBook batteries available;" said Larry O'Connor, President of Newer Technology Inc. "NewerTech is now proud to lead the way by taking steps that ensure proper environmentally-friendly laptop battery recycling/disposal with this no-cost option for our customers."
