If it’s the computer that’s the problem and not the hard drive itself, then you can whip it out, hook it up to the device and copy over your precious data to a new machine. The Universal Drive Adapter, as the name implies, works with all drives currently available - whether it’s a 2.5in, 3.5in or 5.25in model and connects via IDE or SATA. Once you’ve got the drive hooked up, just plug it into a spare USB port on the new machine and you’re ready to go. It supports USB 2.0, so you won’t have to hang around too long waiting for it to transfer your files and it’s also backwards compatible with the slower USB 1.1 standard. The Universal Drive Adapter will be available at the end of January, UK pricing has yet to be determined. See NewerTech for more information. |
