June 8, 2006 - NewerTech is launching a rather useful new product named the USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter. The unit allows any drive (optical, like a DVD burner, or a hard drive) in any size (2.5'', 3.5'' or 5.25''), and any standard connection (IDE, ATA, ATAPI or Serial-ATA) to become a plug-and-play USB device.

Essentially, the Universal Drive Adapter allows internal PC drives to connect like external units. Users making a move to a new computer will no longer be forced to install their old hard drive in the new computer and hassle with getting the wires and power sorted out inside the new chassis. Simple USB support will allow for much easier transitions from computer to computer, and even allow for a bit of extra utility from old hard drives that aren't currently in use.

The Universal Drive Adapter will launch at $24.95 and can be found at www.newertech.com and through various retailers.
