The iPod Oberver

Newer Technology, Inc. (NewerTech) on Thursday announced that all of its NuPower Mac laptop and iPod batteries will now come with a return shipping label for sending in old batteries for free recycling. However, the company will only accept one old battery per new battery sold; additional batteries must be sent back at the customer's expense. The program is also only available in the 48 continental United States.

NewerTech currently offers a variety of replacement batteries for iBook and PowerBook laptops, as well as iPods. The company said that MacBook and MacBook Pro replacement batteries are scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year.
