Happy St Patricks Day!
I figured I would start today's post talking about something a little outside of the tutorial realm. I have spent some time at home wondering how I can offload some of my home pictures, music, and content from my Tivo HD, and have it accessible to me whenever I want to get to it. To do that, I installed a Ministack NAS to my network at home, and was really excited about how quick and painless lt was to get up and running.

I got the NAS on Friday, and ran home to do the setup. I immediately noticed that I didn't have the drivers I needed for a Mac setup, but a 5 minute phone call to the tech support department got me squared away. In about 10 minutes, the network drive was immediately available for me to drop files in. Setup proved to be a breeze, and dropping files over a wireless connection was about 1 minute for 160MB of information, pretty respectable for smaller MP3, JPG files, and the MP4 files I converted from the Tivo HD. For conversions, I used Popcorn 3 on my local computer and transferred them back. A couple of readers had asked me to outline a scenario on placing files on a network drive, and I have to say, the Ministack NAS is definitely something you should put on your short list. For more information on it, check out the Newer Technology website. Over the next couple of weeks, I am going to work on checking out some of their other mobile hard drive solutions to solve my ever increasing space issue with Lightroom.
