I’ve built and serviced a number of computers in my day, and now that I have a couple of kids at home, you never know when you may need to open up a toy with just the right screwdriver. I have a ton of tools lying around but recently had the pleasure of playing around with an 11 piece portable toolkit from Newer Technology.

The kit itself comes in a zippered nylon carrying case and includes just about every tool you’ll need for the job, including a straight blade 1.8mm, straight blade 3.0mm, phillips #00, phillips #2, Torx T6, Torx T8, Torx T10, scissor clamp, tweezers, and 2 nylon pry tools (aka “Spudgers”).

I’ve already found myself using the kit for a quick laptop repair, putting some new memory into a desktop computer, and even opening up a remote control car that stopped working, but required a Torx T6 to get the job done.

I highly recommend this kit for anyone who opens up something electronic, especially a computer. The inclusion of the Torx screwdrivers is worth the price all by itself, since they’re not the easiest screwdrivers to find when you need them.
