iPad Case Review: Nuguard KX for iPad Mini and iPad Mini with Retina Display Review
NewerTech Media Coverage
The Nuguard KX is an impact-resistant case for all iPad Mini models. The NuGuard KX installs in seconds, thanks to its flexible rubbery construction. While it adds very little to the width and height of your device, the protective rear padding and raised edge around the screen will approximately double the thickness of your device. The volume control and power buttons are covered, but everything else is open yet significantly recessed for protection.
Features and Quality
While the Nuguard KX does not protect against moisture, it does provide MIL-STD-810G U.S. drop protection. In order to achieve this level of certification, the case must completely protect its device from multiple 48" drops onto solid concrete. While I never had the nerve to test my own device, I watched the certification video on the manufacturer website, and was suitably impressed. Despite this impressive level of protection, the Nuguard KX is surprisingly light, thanks to the honeycomb structure of its shock-absorbing material dubbed Hyper-advanced X-Orbing gel.
Style
The Nuguard KX comes in black and has a snazzy swirly design stamped into the back of the case. It doesn’t add a lot of style to your iPad Mini, but its clean lines don’t detract from its natural beauty very much either.
Summary
If you need drop protection for your iPad Mini and moisture isn’t an issue, you would be hard pressed to find a better case than the Nuguard KX.
