Newertech NuStand For Mac Mini Review
NewerTech Media Coverage
The NuStand Alloy from Newertech is a simple and stylish way to clear desk space and prop up your Apple Mac Mini vertically.
It's design is in parallel to that of most Apple products including the Mac Mini which makes the NuStand fit seamlessly in to your setup. You can simply slot your 2010-2012 Mac Mini into the stand and have it propped up like a computer tower. This allows you to keep the Mac Mini in tighter spaces and on display, rather than hiding it on a shelf or under your desk.
- Aluminium alloy body with silicone centre
- Rubberised aluminium finish
- Non-slip rubber feet
- Weighs only 3.5 oz
- Compatible with 2010-2012 Mac Mini
The NuStand Alloy allows you to place your Mac Mini in any orientation which suits you best. I found it most convenient to have it with the LED and IR sensor facing the front, and on the opposite end the power button at the top. I have coupled the stand with an Anker USB 3.0 Hub so I never have to reach behind my Mac to access any ports apart from the occasional use of the SD card slot. To power on my Mac, I can simply reach over the top and press the power button.
The space for which the Mac sits in is lined by a soft gel which holds the Mac Mini steadily in place as well as ensuring the alloy construction of the stand does not scratch the surface of the machine. The feet of the stand also have rubber grips to prevent it from slipping.
The only gripe I have with the NuStand is the fact that the Apple logo on the top side of the Mac will not be the right way up. An issue perhaps only for those who look for perfection in their desktop setups.
Overall, I am very impressed with the NuStand Alloy from Newertech. It's simply and requires absolutely nothing to get started. You just simply need to slot your Mac in and you're ready to go. It's lightweight but incredibly strong thanks to it's alloy construction; which not only compliments the design of your Mac Mini but is built to outlast your machine too.
